Horrid Henry and the Football Fiend
We also really like Horrid Henry and the Football Fiend. We loved the Horrid Henry collection when we were younger. The Football Fiend brings all the fun and energy of a normal Horrid Henry book to the football pitch. Perfect for anyone but especially those kids who are already into Horrid Henry.

We’re well aware this can be an awkward age of life. Some teens can only manage a grunt every now and then when they look up from their phones. A book is a great way to take them away from that. And while they might not admit it, we bet they’d love reading a good football book. God forbid they may even learn something! They may even be encouraged to go outside and play a bit of football!

Best football biography for teens
The Secret Footballer series
Biographies give a wonderful insight into the world of a footballer. They tell you what really goes on at the world’s top clubs including training, after training activities and match days. We love The Secret Footballer series. This is definitely one for older teens as there are some references to alcohol and gambling. The series is really exciting and interesting and I personally couldn’t put them down all holiday!

How To Be Footballer by Peter Crouch
Another great biography book for teens (and adults too) that’s fun and engaging is How To Be Footballer by Peter Crouch. If you’ve listened to his podcast you’ll know how hilarious he is, and if you haven’t then get on it! Crouchy is a real down to earth funny guy who keeps you engaged. The book has loads of stories about haircuts (expensive ones), interviews, nights out and managers.

Best football books for adults
Best football biographies for adults
For an adult you can’t go wrong with a biography on their favourite manager or player. Whether that’s Crouchy, Gerrard, Pep or Fergie, a biography is sure to keep your loved one entertained for hours. Just know that they might not talk to you and if they do, it’s bound to be about the book!
Interesting books about sports
There’s a couple of non-football sports books we had to mention because we loved them so much!
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight
First is Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. This is all about the creation of Nike from his wife’s waffle maker at home to one of the world’s biggest sports manufacturers. It’s a really good read that we thoroughly recommend!

Sneaker Wars: The Enemy Brothers Who Founded Adidas and Puma and the Family Feud That Forever Changed the Business of Sports
Another recommendation is the story of Adidas and Puma. The book Sneaker Wars looks into how two brothers started a shoe business in their mum’s house. They were torn apart after WW2 and fell out. Their fall out took them down their own separate paths, forging two rival sneaker brands; Adidas and Puma.

The Secret Footballer series
We recommended The Secret Footballer series as a great read for older teens, but it’s also a great book for adults too. You get an access all areas pass to everything from the training ground, to transfers, to holidays and nights out. It’s a truly interesting insight into the behind the scenes and the things we don’t usually get info on.

I, Robot: How To Be Footballer 2 by Peter Crouch
We picked Crouchy’s book as a great biography for teens and, like The Secret Footballer series, it’s also perfect for adults to read too. Peter Crouch has been a busy guy and he’s made a sequel to his popular book which he’s comically named I Robot: How To Be Footballer 2. This one is just as funny and interesting as his first one. We definitely recommend giving this sequel a read.
