The Nike Pitch Dark Pack has been released and footballers everywhere rejoice as black football boots are finally ready to make a comeback.
Our Twitter research has concluded that the site is inundated with a plethora of angry, confused and saddened football players questioning where all the black football boots are in a market saturated with pink, yellow and just about any other flamboyant colour you can think of.
Well, there’s no need to worry anymore. As we’ve mentioned, one company has ridden in like a Nike in shining armour to plunge us out of this florescent-boot age.
The worldwide giants of the sportswear game have recently released a Pitch Dark Pack featuring black and neon football boots, and we have to say they look bloody nice. We don’t want to be seen blowing our own trumpet, but we predicted the rise of the, once popular, black football boot in our article giving reasons why you should be buying them black. Maybe Nike read it too…
Nike Mercurial and the MercurialX
The first football boot model from the Nike Pitch Dark pack is the Mercurial range. Both the classic Mercurials and the MercurialXs are available in this new release.
From the images shown by Nike, we can see that the Mercurials come in black all over with hints of neon pink which compliments the black exceptionally and look down-right smooth. As you can see from the images, the inside of the football boot is pink, along with a few trademark Nike ticks dotted around the place.
On the Nike Mercurial Superflys (check out our review here), the collar is black. We can’t help but think if it were pink as well, these fine specimens of boots would look even better. But then again, it may make it look like you’re wearing pink legwarmers which is never a good look.
The Nike MercurialXs have a little less pink. They, instead, replace the pink tick on the outer part of the boot with a white tick. It makes it lack continuity, but then again ‘quietens’ the boot down a tad.
Nike Hypervenom and HypervenomXs
The Nike Hypervenom and HypervenomXs were the next to get the makeover. Again, these are looking rather sharp. They’ve gone for a green colour to contrast the black this time. With the unique, almost golf-ball structured outer, the subtly green adds to the boot, making it look even more potent. Feel free to check out our Nike Hypervenom review here.
Nike Tiempo
The final range to not escape the transformation was the Tiempos. Here, seen in a light blue colour, these football boots are perhaps our favourite looking of the ones in this pack. Again, it is not too flamboyant and loud, and yet not too mundane that nobody would want to wear them. We also rated the Tiempo Legends quite highly.
Our overall opinion on the Nike Pitch Dark Pack
All in all, we are impressed with these paint jobs released by Nike. They have definitely cracked into a market that has potential. Many people relish the opportunity to wear black football boots once again that will bring back the nostalgia of their childhood. Up until now, not too many classic-looking boots had been on offer which had the same technologically-advanced features as the best modern boots nowadays. But Nike have unleashed a beast that we predict will be very popular and successful.
