Ever wondered what football boots the best player in the world will wear for the upcoming season? Ever wanted to know the answer to the question: what boots does Lionel Messi wear? Well, read on, as Adidas have recently released updated versions of a range of their football boots.
Messi, despite being involved in this tax debacle, will start the season for Barcelona – bar any transfer that may not be all too shocking, but would still be highly unlikely. He will lace up for the 2016-17 La Liga season in Adidas’ new 16+ PureAgility football boots, specifically designed for the Argentinian.
The slick-looking boot, which maintains the ‘laceless’ trend that Adidas has adopted recently, that Messi will wear will be in a shock blue colour which looks suitably slick. As mentioned, the laces are hidden. This gives the boot a smooth and larger surface area than regular boots, which enhances the player’s control and maximises the strike zone for shooting. It also negates any effect that the laces may have on impacting with the ball.
Adidas claim that the boot has ‘unstoppable agility’, with an internal lacing system that gives the boot a tight and stable fit to the foot. They also claim that there is zero wear-in time. With the majority of modern boots nowadays, they are made intentionally so that one boot fits a range of different foot types, by using flexible inner material that over time moulds around a player’s foot. With these football boots, the instant you put them on, they will mould around your foot immediately.
Furthermore, the sole is made to be the lightest it possibly can be, while still ensuring optimum stability and traction. This is all with the aim of enhancing a player’s speed. It is called SPRINTFRAME technology, and ensures that you will have ‘rock-solid’ stability even when running at your fastest speed.
It all sounds very impressive… What else would you expect for a talent like Messi? But they inevitably do come at a price. A hefty £230 is what they are going for on the shelves. It is a lot of money, but it is clear that these will help you wingers out there with speed, agility, control and shooting.
Along with the PureAgility upgrade, Adidas have also released new PureChaos and PureControl models. They too come at a similar sort of price. Luiz Suarez, Gareth Bale and Ivan Rakitic are all said to be sporting the new football boots for the upcoming season.
So, Adidas are still pushing their competitors to their limits in this constant battle to raise the bar in innovative football boot designs.
