What are the best football boots in the world? It’s a commonly asked question. But how can we answer it?
If only we had some major event coming up where all the best players from around the world will meet, sporting the very best football boots on the market at the moment and, I don’t know, played in some tournament against one another.
Oh that’s right, we do! The World Cup 2018 is here and it is going to be amazing!
So, as we did for our Nike vs Adidas Euro 2016 tournament, we’re bringing the Boot Battle back and this time it’s for the world stage.
Whereas last time, we pitted Adidas and Nike against one another, this tournament we are including every single boot manufacturer. Adidas vs Nike vs Puma vs New Balance vs Umbro vs Diadora vs whoever the hell else any player wants to wear on their feet in the ultimate boot battle royale to the death!
Okay, maybe not death. Epic, it will still be though!
Here’s how it is going to work. For every match that takes place there will be points up for grabs. Every player is involved and the points that they accrue will tally towards whichever boot brand they’re wearing on their feet, be it Adidas, Nike or whoever.
The breakdown of points is as follows:
Goal – 4
Assist – 2
Clean Sheet (Defender) – 2
Clean Sheet (Keeper) – 3
MOTM – 4
Unlike our previous battle, we won’t be penalising any fools for own goals, red or yellow cards or just generally being a prat (I’m sure Sergio ‘Loves a Card’ Ramos will be relieved).
We will have daily updates with reports of the day’s happenings. So settle in, get ready and enjoy the next month of football!
Adidas | Asics | Diadora | Mizuno | New Balance | Nike | Puma | Umbro | Under Armour |
