Many football boots are things of beauty. Smooth uppers interlink seamlessly with tight-fit ankle collars, both accentuated by a rich and fresh-looking colour scheme – all of which is topped off with a trademark logo to signify the company’s class and add integrity. Unfortunately, Romelu Lukaku’s first touch is not the only thing that God did not make perfect, some football boots sadly did not make the cut either. We’ve put together our round-up of the worst football boots of all time!
We searched high and low to find the ugliest, most atrocious and downright aesthetically offensive boots ever made. By all means add a little colour to your footy boots but for the love of football don’t wear these monstrosities. Do you agree with our choices or do you have a boot you’d like to add to our list? Let us know in the comments.
The 6 worst football boots of all time
‘Frimpong’ EvoSPEED
The former Arsenal midfielder was an extravagant character, so surely it was only right that his footwear matched his character. With a cameo rap in Lethal Bizzle’s ‘Leave it Yeah’, you would expect a certain sense of style from the Ghanaian. These boots, however, portray anything but that. Made in his nation’s colours, the bright and wacky boots are certainly like nothing else on the market. Just as a reminder to himself as well, on the side of them are the words; ‘Frimpong is Dench.’ Wear these at your peril!
Adidas F50 Yamamoto
These football boots truly are a piece of art. Unfortunately, art does not belong anywhere near a football pitch; that Michael Jackson statue at Fulham a few years back was weird enough. Creativity-wise, these boots are beautiful. In terms of wanting to wear them on your feet to bang in goals on a Saturday, no… Just no.
Warrior Skreamer S-Lite
Warrior is not the most well-known brand out there. With designs like the black, orange and blue Skreamer, it’s not difficult to understand why they have not broken onto the scene. Although the style of the boot is somewhat stylish and rather standard, a combination of the clashing colours and the out-of-place Warrior logo just does no favours for this model.
Concave PT (black)
We have to say that the Concave footy boots aren’t actually too bad in white. But in all black, these look clunky, old and dull. Our initial thought when first seeing these monstrosities was that it looks like one of those dogs with a droopy face. I know that looks aren’t everything, but they are something, and these football boots are just hideous.
Puma EvoSPEED Camo (pink)
Back to the EvoSPEEDs again, and this time there’s not even an ounce of ‘denchness.’ Instead, there is simply just a disgusting design. Whichever executive, creative designer or whoever the hell thought up the idea of having multiple pink circles printed on a white boot to create a bubble-looking design need to be FIRED. The Puma EvoSPEEDS are a good football boot, but here they’re ruined by some truly awful design work.
Adidas F50 Adizero – (Intense green and pink)
The F50s are back in the firing line, and for an exceptionally good reason. If Adizero refers to zero appeal on the eye then congrats Adidas, you’ve nailed the marketing for these boots. A revolting dark green shade is poisoned further with strikes of equally disgusting pink. Frankly, we need to go look at the Predators to stop feeling so disgusted. We thought better of you Adidas. We deserved better from you Adidas.
