The upper, as the name suggests, is the upper part of the boot where the laces sit on. It’s perhaps the most important part of the boot, as it’s the area that will be used when striking or playing a long ball. A soft upper, therefore, will do several things. Firstly, it ensures that the ball can be cushioned down more easily.
